Ta-Da Flowers

Magic-o-presto... we have flowers! Austin & I spent the weekend planting flowers in one of our flower beds. It is a bit hard to see from this picture but squint your eyes and focus on the little buds along the fence. There is 18 plants and flowers there. Don't let looks deceive you.

We didn't do a ton of planning. We did it with a little trip to Home Depot and picking whatever flowers and bushes were pretty. And now look... a garden in the making! You better watch out because next thing you know I might be planting huge sunflower bushes. I suppose that would be fine as long as it doesn't turn into Little Shop of Horrors.

O-So Green!

We finally got sod and sprinklers put in our back yard. I love how it is o-so green. I also love that the dogs won't be tracking so much dirt into the house!

Highlands Fun

We headed out to the annual neighborhood fair, the Highlands Street Fair. We love our neighborhood!!!Austin got the world's largest rice krispy treat. It took 4 of us to finish it. This is Meghan. Say hi to Meghan. She is about to have a baby any day now. She found a lucky penny on the ground right after this picture was taken, she wished to go into labor. As of right this very moment that wish hasn't come true but I predict it will happen very very soon.

So Maybe the Fireplace Needs Cleaning

Austin & I went to a nice dinner tonight then we thought it would be a grand idea to start a fire in the fireplace. It's all snowy out so it's a perfect night for a fire. There is one problem.... we have never used the fireplace. When Austin bought the house there was a dead raccoon (yum) in the chimney so they had to clean it to get it out. Apparently they didn't really clean very well because when we started our fire the house quickly filled up with smoke. The chimney was open, I know it wasn't closed, yet it didn't work. So we had to put it out with water, the fire alarms were making that annoying beeping noise, and it made a mess. I must admit it was quite funny. Better luck next time (after we get it cleaned!) For now I'm sitting on the couch freezing with all the windows open waiting for the smoke to clear.
*Update: I have been given instructions to get it going. We shall try again!
